Thailand Lifts Export Ban On Elephants

Thailand - After a ten year ban, Thailand lifts export of elephants

Thailand to export elephants for research or for the promotion of bilateral relations between Thailand and the recipient country, after it eases a 10 year ban.

In a recent article in Thai PBS World, the news media outlet reports the lifting of a ten year ban after careful considerations were made by Thailand’s Foreign Trade Department.

Here we are in the 21st century yet it seems the powers that be have learned nothing about the enslavement and overuse of wild animals. With a not fit for purpose trade body, CITES, handing permits out of a cereal box and WAZA keeping a "close exploitative eye" on ensuring these animals are treated "properly" according to their zoo guidelines, together with the steadfast assurances of Thailand's Foreign Trade Department's Mr. Adul Chotenisakorn, that Thailand's precious elephants will be treated "properly", all stakeholders will be informed on how sensitive this issue is and asked for their opinions.

What would their opinions be other than agreeing to the trade. Isn't that what Stakeholders do? Because they have a "stake" in the plan? A monetary one?

Never in the history of the world has animal exploitation been at its highest as it is now. Never.
